Fort Myers Beach

Fort Myers Beach

The resort of Fort Myers Beach is perfect if you want to lie on the beach. You can be there by rental car in a good 25 minutes and the distance is around 11 miles. You drive south and everything is very well signposted so that you can find the beautiful beach. Fort Myers Beach has only 6,200 inhabitants and the city is also in Lee County.

The drive there is very nice. The main street "Mc Gregor Bvld" is lined with over 2,000 royal palms over a length of 25 km. This is also the reason why Fort Myers is often called the "City of Palms". The inventor Thomas Edison planted the first royal palms. The beaches of Fort Myers are on the barrier island: Fort Myers Beach. Around 11 km of sandy beach mean "pure beach life" with everything that goes with it.

There is parking everywhere. The parking fees are cheaper if you drive a little towards Estero. The beach is just as beautiful, but not that crowded anymore.

The other two offshore islands, Sanibel Island and Captiva Island, are much quieter.
