Fort Myers Beach
The seaside resort of Fort Myers Beach is perfect for those looking to relax on the beach. It's about 11 miles away by rental car, and it's a good 25-minute drive. Head south, and everything is well-signposted to help you find the beautiful beach. Fort Myers Beach has a population of just 6,200, and the city is located in Lee County.
The drive there is very beautiful. The main street, McGregor Blvd, is lined with over 2,000 royal palms for 25 km. This is also the reason why Fort Myers is often called the "City of Palms." The first royal palms were planted by the inventor Thomas Edison. The beaches of Fort Myers are located on the barrier island: Fort Myers Beach. Around 11 km of sandy beach mean "pure beach life" with everything that goes with it.
There are parking spaces everywhere. Parking fees become cheaper if you drive a little further toward Estero. The beach is just as beautiful, but less crowded.
Things are much quieter on the two other offshore islands, Sanibel Island and Captiva Island.
